PostSubject: A Farewell   2016-12-11, 21:57

Well, this has been a long time coming. Truly it has. Suffice to say I am finally boarding my life’s train to its next station, and this place is not in it. This is for a variety of reasons. I am tired of being taken advantage of by so-called “friends”, milked for ideas, and then having anything I want to do discarded in favor of rampant fanboying.

First there’s Gorath, who regularly emotionally blackmails me (although I’ve never been able to tell if he’s done it intentionally or if it’s just a side effect of his usual theatrics, either way, it’s weapons grade) whenever I call him out on anything. If I call him out on lying to me, he simply spams “I’m sorry” as if that will magically make it all better. If I call him out on bullshit in a thread he’ll come up with any number of asinine reasons to justify it until I give up in frustration. And heaven forbid I ever do something that could potentially derail one of his plots or deconstruct whatever 40k faction he’s fanboying over at any given moment. I mean, it’s not like he recently utterly shut down one of my characters in an implausible way with a faction that wouldn’t understand how to even cobble together a means to shut her down. Had it been something more mundane, such as throwing bodies at her till she collapsed from exhaustion (something would have been easily doable given the scenario), I would have been fine with it. But no, can’t have that, can we? We’ve got to have the favorite of the hour come out on top by means that don’t even make sense! Truth be told, the way he’s treated me over the last couple of years has certain hallmarks of an abusive relationship, specifically the sort where the abuser holds the victim hostage by acting emotionally weak or otherwise distraught and then entrapping the victim to remain with the abuser.

Then there’s Rae. Oh dear, dear, Rae. Truth be told, you have the making of a decent person inside you. You at least try to understand the problems of the people around you, or at least you do a fine job at feigning it. You’ll act all confused upon seeing this and maybe some of that confusion will be genuine, or maybe it’s all an act. It’s hard to determine such things over the impersonal place that is the almighty Internet of Things! Either way I expect you to not take sides here and quietly slink away like you always do. I mean, next to Gorath you know the most about 40k then anyone on the site and you were there for so many, many, many things that were utter and complete bullshit and wankery that you could probably list a few of them off the top of your head. What makes this even sadder is your own admission that you liked the idea of culture clashes and conflicting ideologies and how that could steer things. A shame any attempts I made to keep that happening and preventing hijacking were utterly crushed beneath an iron boot.

Then there’s Naz. Well, we’ve had our differences. I suppose you’re an okay guy. You, like me, are perhaps a bit too cynical and bitter towards the world, although you work in a government technical support position so I can understand that. Perhaps you’ve sympathized the most with me next to Bush when it comes to the shit I’ve had to put up with but the difference is you seem content to put up with the rampant shit fest that’s going on around here.

Dargoth...Well, you’re alright. No, really, you are. From my interactions with you, you’re a nice, opened minded, smart, witty, and reasonable person (except when we play Helldivers, you team killing fucktard!). As far as I’m concerned, you’ve done alright by me. If you ever want to play a game, Dar, hit me up on Steam.

Himfea, you’re probably capable of handling this more gracefully then I am but the difference is you just needed a break to think things over. Sadly, that’s not my situation. As for you though…You’ve always been a bit of an enigma to me, but that’s not at all a bad thing potentially. You’re also pretty imaginative and I genuinely do like the art you’ve shown me (you’ve got real talent there and I would encourage you to further develop that talent!) and as for your written content, well, all I can say is that you have your misses but we all do (Lord knows I have my share of literary skeletons in the closet) and when you genuinely do write interesting things and it’s a damn shame they don’t get more notice around here, but I can’t say I expect much else at this juncture sadly. If you ever find yourself in need of a 4x partner or you ever get into something like a Diablo-like game, hit me up. I’d be more than happy to show you the ropes and then see who would come out on top in a battle of wits.

Azrok, in general you’re a good guy. You let your temper get the best of you at times but as a rule of thumb you’re a good person. If you ever want to chat or play Total War or something to that effect you know how to contact me.

Finally, as for Bush, well, I can’t really say anything about him here can I? He’s practically disappeared from here, likely for similar reasons. That’s all I can say really.

In summary, I’m just…tired. Tired of the lies, the false friendships, being milked for ideas to feed rampant fanboyism that’s some of the most toxic I’ve ever personally experienced, with the same people then discarding anything I or others want to do because clearly the world revolves around them. Gor, please, don’t bother trying to contact me. If in the future I ever change my mind, I’ll come to you. As it is though, don’t get your hopes up. You’re a poor excuse for a friend and perhaps the source of the most negative experiences I have ever had with a fanbase. I truly hope you clean up your act, as I reserve wishing harsh or otherwise brutal fates for those that truly deserve them, but part of me doubts it. You haven’t changed much since the Flashgitz days, and I imagine that will continue to ring true going forward.
As such, to wrap this all up, I will be deleting all my recent threads and anything story related. “Mess” will be gone in its entirety, as will “Galaxy Divided”, those two creative writing threads I made, and whatever else I deem necessary for deletion. I know that Gor will be holding out hopes I change my mind but truly I believe this to be my swan song here. Good day to you all.

Well, damn man, I'm sorry to hear that. And I dearly hope you've misjudged us. Your ideas were what drove mess forwards, and it was always my intention to bring your characters into interesting situations, which would hopefully lead to great conversations and events, but with you gone mess really is dead, and to be honest I think this forum is probably going to die, and it saddens me that kitten was right, we really were just circling the plughole, so to speak. But all good things must come to an end I suppose, and while I'll hope you reconsider, I'll just wish you luck and good times in the future. Seeya arken, you've always been a good guy
