Basically you make your own space marine chapter, and then play as one of them in a squad of marines going on missions, a highly elite unit formed from many different chapters.

Im assuming one shoulder guard is gonna be a deathwatch thingy anyway?

In the process of doing this I realized that all members of the deathwatch that make up kill teams have black armour anyway with their right shoulder guard bearing the colour of their chapter

You can choose two classes for your marine, assault or tactical.
From these two choices you can upgrade and customise your marine as you see fit, from the options presented.

both classes gets 70 points to spend on their marine.

TACTICAL

Tactical marines start with a bolt pistol, boltgun and 5 magazines. Standard.
The boltgun can be upgraded with 1 of the following scopes
Telescopic sight-10 points
Pulsar scope-20 points
Infravision-20 points

It may also take one of the following attachments
Combi plasma- 30 points
Combi melta- 25 points
Bayonet- 5 points
Chain bayonet- 15 points
Magnifier (only optional if scope is taken) -10 points
Underbarrel flamer- 10 points
Underbarrel grenade launcher-10 points
supressor- 5 points

The marine may take 1 of the following combat weapons
Combat knife- 5 points
Chain knife- 15 points
Shortsword- 15 points

May take up to 5 grenades

Frag- 5 points
Krak- 5 points
Plasma- 10 points
photon flash flare- 10 points
Rad-10 points
Scare-5 points
Smoke- 5 points
Tanglefoot- 20 points

The marine may take any of the following wargear
Communicator- 5 points
Medi pack- 5 points
Scanner- 10 points
Servo arm (for descendants from iron hands or close loyalty to mechanicum) 20 points
Targeter- 10 points
Virus grenade (only 1 may be taken) -20 points
